JUPITER, Fla. – Palm Beach International Raceway™ (PBIR) will be the home base for the Florida Region of Hooked on Driving (HOD), the nation’s No. 1 non-competitive performance driving program.
This comes with the news of the acquisition of the HOD’s Florida Region franchise by PBIR’s parent company, IRG Sports + Entertainment™ (IRGSE), a leading marketer and promoter of sports and live entertainment experiences.
The franchise will represent HOD at road courses throughout Florida.
“I am excited to announce our plans to partner with Hooked on Driving and welcome them into the IRG Sports + Entertainment family,” IRGSE President and CEO Lou Partenza said. “HOD’s track record of providing a proven and safe platform of performance driving for the hobby driver to enjoy the sport was particularly important in choosing HOD to move forward with.“I feel HOD’s programs are a strategic fit with the IRGSE track assets as well as an enhancement to our recent acquisition of the Bertil Roos Racing School. I look forward to working with Hooked on Driving Founder and President David Ray to bring increased opportunities to enjoy high-performance driving to our customers.”
IRGSE has already selected HOD event dates in the first quarter of 2018, which include the upcoming track dates on PBIR’s 2.2-mile road course.
- Friday, March 2
- Sunday, March 25
- Friday, April 6
- Saturday, April 21
Registration for these events will be announced soon, and will be on hookedondriving.com.
More dates will be added shortly. In addition to Palm Beach International Raceway, IRGSE intends to serve Homestead-Miami Speedway and Sebring International Raceway.
“IRGSE reached out to us when the very exciting territory of Florida became available, and has moved forward to implement the HOD business model in 2018 and beyond,” Ray said. “We are excited to see IRGSE with its strong infrastructure and commitment to motorsports step up to a dedicated effort in Florida.
“While HOD is committed to a non-competitive driving experience, we believe that IRGSE’s vision, with their acquisition of the Bertil Roos Racing School, side-by-side with HOD in Florida, and their local Palm Beach Driving Club, creates a synergy for drivers who begin in their street cars, but may get “hooked” enough to move to more serious commitments in the sport.”
