Summit Racing Now Sponsors Pro Mod, Formula Drift, and Jr. Dragster Racing Series

Summit 2018We have more than the word racing in our name—it’s in our very DNA. Summit Racing has sponsored sanctioning bodies, racing series, and drivers for almost 30 years, and we’re pleased as punch to announce that we’re on board with three new and exciting race venues.Midwest Pro ModsFrankenstein Engine Dynamics Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS)
The Frankenstein Engine Dynamics Mid-West Pro Mod Series is an all-eighth-mile, non-profit organization that delivers everyone’s favorite wild children, Pro Modified and Outlaw Drag Radial, to tracks across the Midwest. Summit Racing will be the sanctioning body’s Official Speed Shop and Parts Supplier, and will be the title sponsor for the MWPMS event, September 7-8, at Xtreme Raceway ParK in Trumbull, Texas.

“We’re very excited about Summit Racing Equipment joining us,” stated Keith Haney, owner and promoter of the Tulsa-based drag racing organization. “Summit Racing is very well-known in all forms of motorsports, so for them to come on board with the Mid-West Pro Mod Series is a great vote of confidence in the strength of our series.”

Summit Racing Motorsports and Events Manager Jim Greenleaf explained a visit to the Arlington store this spring led to him attending the MWPMS season opener at the Texas Motorplex.

“I got a chance to see the Mid-West Pro Mod Series for the first time and what was really impressive, especially since they made a venue change on short notice, is they really drew a nice crowd to the Motorplex,” Greenleaf explained. “We had worked with the track there to promote the event through our Retail Store and to see the quality of cars, the level of performance, and the competition was really exciting, just a heck of a show.”

If you like to watch overpowered cars slip, slide, and prance around a race track, Formula DRIFT is for you. Summit Racing is now a contingency sponsor for Formula DRIFT’s Pro2 class. Introduced in 2014, Pro2 allows newly minted drift racers a more affordable way to compete against similarly-skilled drivers. Pro2 runs at four of the same tracks used by the Formula Drift Pro1 racers, and are judged by Formula Drift Pro1 class judges. Summit Racing will also sponsor a series of videos highlighting Pro2 class drivers during the 2018 season.

“We are delighted to welcome Summit Racing Equipment to our series,” said Jim Liaw, Formula DRIFT president and co-founder. “We know it’s crucial to encourage new talent, and the role Summit Racing will play with the Pro2 contingency program and the video series will be appreciated by the teams and fans alike.”

“We’re very excited to take Summit Racing Equipment into the Formula DRIFT world,” said Tommy Dupree, Summit Racing Motorsports and Events Coordinator at Summit Racing. “Our contingency sponsorship allows us to expand into a new form of motorsports, and we look forward to seeing the new stars who develop from this exciting category.”

The Protect the Harvest Midwest Junior Super Series is all about Jr. Dragster competition. It runs eight three-day events at major drag racing facilities across the Midwest and features 13 different classes of competition for drivers from age five through seventeen. Summit Racing is now sponsoring the 7.90 Index Eliminator, the quickest 1/8-mile Jr. Dragster class in the country. We will also supply contingent and non-contingent items to racers in all 13 classes.

Three-time NHRA Top Fuel World Champion Antron Brown is the MJSS’ marketing director, and had this to say about Summit Racing’s sponsorship.

“The 7.90 class is one of the most competitive we offer, and it’s the most heavily populated of our four Index-based categories. Traditionally, the division is the last class in which a young driver competes before moving to full-sized racing. To have Summit Racing Equipment put their efforts into that group is a win for everybody involved”.

Summit Racing’s Jim Greenleaf and Don Lower both agree the partnership will be advantageous to all involved.

“Summit is honored to be involved with the young people who will be the stars of tomorrow’s performance world. It just makes sense to take care of the next generation on the horizon.”
