DSR Adds E3 Spark Plugs as its Official Spark Plug

Don Schumacher Racing story

DSR plate E3 plugsBROWNSBURG, Ind. (Jan. 19, 2016) – E3 Spark Plugs and Don Schumacher Racing have entered into a multiyear sponsorship beginning with the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season that makes the premier product the Official Spark Plug for the 14-time NHRA world championship organization.

Each of DSR’s seven professional teams will rely on 16 E3100R spark plugs to ignite the power of its 11,000-horsepower Hemi engines.

“Spark plugs play such an integral part in powering these machines and after our crew chiefs tested E3 spark plugs last month in Florida they agreed we should start using them at Pomona in a few weeks when the season opens,” said DSR owner Don Schumacher, a pioneering Funny Car driver/owner beginning in the mid-1960s who won the first five NHRA Wally Trophies in DSR’s collection of 267.

“We only use the best products in our four Funny Cars and three Top Fuel dragsters and these E3100R spark plugs are helping us make more horsepower. And I’ve been very impressed with the new E3100R and the commitment the company has made to our sport since becoming the Official Spark Plug of NHRA in 2012.”

“Don Schumacher has built a first-class racing organization that challenges for titles at every turn,” said Rob Fisher, VP of Motorsports for E3. “To achieve that takes tremendous dedication and effort, two qualities that you’ll find permeate everything we do at E3. So, the association just makes sense for us. But, this is much more than a typical marketing relationship, Don is using our plugs in every one of his cars. There’s a real technical aspect to the relationship as well and we couldn’t be more excited to be a part of DSR’s success on the track in ’16 and beyond.”

The program with DSR will shine a light on E3’s new line of racing spark plugs as well as the premium OE replacement line of automotive, small-engine, and power-sports plugs which are available at nationwide retailers like NAPA AUTO PARTS, sponsor of DSR’s Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car piloted by Ron Capps.

About E3 Spark Plugs
Backed by a five-year, 100,000-mile warranty, E3 spark plugs, with their DiamondFIRE side-wire electrode, project the combustion spark in a way that more quickly ignites the air/fuel mixture, thereby creating a significantly faster and larger flame kernel. In effect, this burns more of the available fuel, resulting in increased combustion efficiency for improved power and fuel economy with reduced emissions. E3 spark plugs are available for most automotive, small-engine, and power-sports applications at automotive and home-improvement retail stores nationwide. E3 also has just launched a line of racing spark plugs for all levels of racing applications. For more information on E3 log on to
