Lasse Soerensen(March 13, 2020) –  DF1 Racing will field an all-Danish car in the 2020 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES). The #66 will be driven by EuroNASCAR 2 champion Lasse Soerensen, who will share the Chevrolet Camaro with fellow countryman Andreas Jochimsen. Soerensen will step up to the EuroNASCAR PRO championship and take on the European NASCAR elite, while Jochimsen will race in the EuroNASCAR 2 championship.

Soerensen capped off a phenomenal 2019 NASCAR season in Belgium in October. Although he missed the championship opener in Valencia, Spain, by the end of the regular season he had already become a favorite for the title. He won his first ever NWES race in Franciacorta, Italy, and carved his way up to the top with an incomparable regular season. With a total of seven wins and ten podiums, the Danish giant secured the EuroNASCAR 2 title in the last race of the season in Zolder.

In addition to the championship win, Soerensen also grabbed the Rookie Trophy, going down in EuroNASCAR history books as the first rookie to also win the EuroNASCAR 2 title. His aggressive but fair driving style has brought him many new fans in the NASCAR world. Unforgotten is his race at Brands Hatch, where he had to start from last place and still won it after 26 overtakes in 30 laps.Lasse SoerensenIn 2020 Soerensen wants to leave his mark in the EuroNASCAR PRO championship. The 23-year-old reacted modestly to the great challenge of competing with NWES legends like Ander Vilarino, Alon Day and ex-Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve: “My goal is to win, but the championship will be really tough. Everyone has to push themselves to their limits to win. But I believe in myself and the team. We’ll see where we end up.”

“I will keep my head up and work with my fantastic team DF1 Racing,” he explained. “I think we’ll be able to pick up some good results. Realistically, my first goal is to finish in the top-5. Last year I said the same thing and in the end we were the EuroNASCAR 2 champions, even though I missed the race weekend in Valencia.”

DF1 Head of Motorsport Norbert Walchhofer said: “I travelled to Denmark to pay my personal respects and thank Lasse for the 2019 season. I am delighted that we celebrated the official contract extension together. Lasse is a racer without compromises, who approaches his races in a focused manner. In decades I’ve never seen such a talent like Lasse. He has a clear plan when he gets into a NASCAR car, we saw that in 2019. He came, saw and won, but that will be more difficult in the 2020 season. His realistic expectations for the EuroNASCAR PRO championship underline his professional character. As a Junior Trophy driver he will now be able to compete with the European NASCAR elite. I am sure that he will leave his footprints in the EuroNASCAR PRO and entertain the spectators as well as our team.”

Soerensen and DF1 Racing officially extended the contract in Denmark on the evening of March 12th. Soon the DF1 champion tiger will be back in the Austrian Chevrolet, focused on the next title.Lasse SoerensenLasse SoerensenLasse Soerensen
