Driver Notes for Indy 1:

  • Duluth, Minnesota, native Greg Anderson will debut a striking new paint scheme on a new-to-him Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro. Anderson’s new Chevrolet was previously driven by KB Racing-powered Deric Kramer.
  • 2020 is Anderson’s 22nd season as a Pro Stock driver. He began his career as a crew member and then was crew chief for six-time NHRA champion Warren Johnson before taking the reins of his own Pro Stock car in Columbus in 1998.
  • Las Vegas-based Ken Black brought Anderson on board as a tuner, then a driver for KB Racing. They have been racing together for nearly two decades and have, along with crew chief Rob Downing, built a team that now owns 160 national event wins and eight championships.
  • So far, Anderson has four NHRA Pro Stock championships. They came in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2010.
  • Anderson is the most decorated Pro Stock driver on the current tour with 94 national event wins and is the second-most winning driver of all time in the category (W. Johnson has 97)
  • Anderson’s 104 starts from the No. 1 position are third-most of any Pro driver

Quotes:
“This time off has almost been like a second off-season. All of the KB Racing cars ran well in Orlando [at the World Doorslammer Nationals in February, where Anderson was runner-up at the non NHRA-sanctioned event], and we definitely turned the ship around after a rough start to the season. We’ve done a lot of work since then, the dyno has been running almost nonstop, and we really feel like we can compete again. We’ll be ready by the time we fire up at Indy. I think things are going to look a whole lot better for the entire KB Racing team.”

“This is probably the longest I’ve been out of a racecar since 1990, and we’re ready to go. It’s still going to be my last year in the car, and my goal now is the same as it was in the beginning – to do the best I can for Summit Racing Equipment and our team owner, Ken Black. What we do now, both on and off the track, is what will make KB Racing successful in the future.”
