Another No. 1 for Team Summit’s Jason Line at the Third NHRA Event in Indianapolis

Jason Line GSJason LineBrownsburg, Ind. (August 8, 2020) – Pro Stock didn’t race at the Summernationals, the NHRA event held at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis two weeks ago, but Jason Line and his silver Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro didn’t seem to lose any footing in the three-week break. Line, who was No. 1 at the first Indy event this season and then went on to win the event, secured his second consecutive Pro Stock No. 1 and 57th of his career on opening day of the Dodge NHRA Indy Nationals.

The Minnesota native Line clocked a muscly 6.574-second pass at 208.75 mph in the first session of qualifying and blasted right into the top spot. No one could get around him in the warmer second session, allowing the soon-to-be retired Pro Stock driver to power into raceday with an advantage. He’ll be looking for the 52nd victory of his career as a factory hot rod pilot on Sunday at Indy, and he’ll begin the mission with a first-round meeting with Iowa’s Robert River.

“I’m pretty happy with my Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro today,” said Line, who clocked a 6.626, 207.41 in the second round after picking up three bonus points in Q1. “Last time we were here, we had an issue and didn’t get to make two qualifying runs with my car – and today we got both runs in, so that feels like a good start. It was fun today, and I’m excited for tomorrow. We have a good opportunity, it will just be a matter of doing what we came here to do.”

Team Summit’s Greg Anderson, driver of the Americana-themed Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro, claimed five bonus points in qualifying; he was second-quickest in the first session on a swift 6.592, 208.46 and quickest of the bunch in the closing qualifier with a 6.612, 207.88. He will start from the No. 2 position and square off with Kenny Delco in round one.

“My Summit Racing Chevy is ready for battle tomorrow,” said Anderson. “We’ve been working on all of the KB Racing engines, trying to make them all better, and so far we think it’s going pretty well. We went out and tested at the racetrack before coming here, and we’ve been working hard. What we want is for all six cars under the KB Racing umbrella to where they are capable of winning an event. I think we proved that all six cars have the potential to run fast, and I think they all have a chance to win tomorrow. I think we’ve increased our odds. It’s going to be an exciting day.”

Eliminations for the NHRA Indy Nationals will begin at 9:00 a.m. ET on Sunday, August 9, 2020, at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.
