Greg Anderson

KB Racing, Summit Racing Equipment Chevrolet Camaro
Car No.: PS7
Current points position: 5

Event Notes:

  • Greg Anderson, born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, is the driver of the Americana-themed Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro
Anderson made the fastest run in the history of NHRA’s Electronic Fuel Injected Pro Stock category in 2017 in Gainesville with a 214.59 mph pass
  • The first-ever round win for Anderson came at the 1998 Gatornationals. Allen Johnson was in the other lane, and unbeknownst to Anderson, his opponent lost control of his Pro Stock car and crashed behind him. Johnson was uninjured.
  • Anderson and Summit Racing teammate Jason Line are tied as the second-most winning Pro Stock drivers at the Gatornationals (they each have four wins there)
  • 2020 is Anderson’s 22nd season as a Pro Stock driver. He began his career as a crew member and then was crew chief for multi-time champion Warren Johnson before taking the reins of his own Pro Stock car in Columbus in 1998.
  • Las Vegas-based Ken Black brought Anderson on board as a tuner, then a driver for KB Racing. They have been racing together for nearly two decades and have, along with crew chief Rob Downing, built a team that now owns 161 national event wins and eight championships.
  • Anderson’s four NHRA Pro Stock championships came in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2010
  • He is the most decorated Pro Stock driver on the current tour with 94 national event wins and is the second-most winning driver of all time in the category (W. Johnson has 97)
  • Anderson’s 105 starts from the No. 1 position is third-most of any Pro driver

Quotes:
“This weekend will be different, we’ve gotten kind of used to racing Indy. But I think our Summit Racing chevy Camaros are ready to run no matter where we go. We can run fast – it’s just a matter of maintaining the focus on Sunday. We need to do a better job of driving and adapting to the racetrack on raceday. We’ve made a lot of strides in the last three or four months, both engine wise and car wise, and we’ve got fast racecars – but you still have to do it right every time you go out there. You can’t make a mistake. We have to clean up those mistakes, and we’ll be winning races again. We’re close, we’re very close. We just have to put it all together. I’m excited to get to Gainesville. I’ve had some great races there, a lot of good memories, and we’re in a good position to make more.”

Quotes:
“The good news from the last race is that my Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro is back to healthy, and that’s a good feeling going into Gainesville. After a full schedule at the U.S. Nationals, we’re back to two qualifying sessions at this one, and I actually kind of like that. I seem to do better at two-day races. Gainesville has a cool history, and it’s been pretty good to me. I’m a big fan of anywhere you can run fast, and we’ve been able to run fast there in the past. This time is a little different because we’re going there in September, but it’ll be my last time racing there in Pro Stock, so I’d like to do well.”

“I can remember the first time I raced there with my Stocker. It was 1993, the year I won the Stock Eliminator championship, and it was one of my claimed races. It was just fun times, leaving Minnesota in the winter to go race your car in Florida. It was a big thing, and I enjoyed it. I have some good memories in Pro Stock there as well, but that’s one you just don’t forget.”
